Match #3 - Won 13-0
Match #4 - Won 14-2
Cory had been in the Eastern National Finals in 2000 & 2001, but was unable to come home with the top prize. In his third consecutive try, Cory struck gold. To make sure he did just that, Cory dominated each of his opponents on the way. I have never seen Cory look any more impressive in his wrestling, then he was at this year's Eastern Nationals. CONGRATULATIONS CHAMP!!! I know how hard Cory has worked for this title, and I can't begin to tell you how proud I am that he got it! Looking back at some of his elementary wrestling accomplishments.
* He had a career record of 161-11 for LYW.
* 100 LYW career pins
* A LYW career takedown record of 307-19
* He won 29 out of the 39 tournaments he entered (5 Runner-up finishes, 3 third place, 1 fourth place, & 1 seventh place)
* He went (7-2 in Kindergarden)(42-3 in fourth grade)(53-3 in fifth grade)&(59-3 in 6th grade)
* 2002 Eastern National Champ
* 2001 Pennsylvania State Champ
* 2001 Eastern National Runner-up
* 2000 Eastern National Runner-up
* 2002 7th Place at Pennsylvania States
Cory moves on to Junior High wrestling next year and LYW wishes him continued success. Just remember though, the minute you become satisfied with how good you've become, is the minute you stop improving. Set your goals high, Cory, and don't be satisfied until you reach them.

Cory has two back to back Eastern National Runner-up finishes the past two years. After winning Regionals for the first time ever, does this mean the third try is the charm? We'll see in two weeks. GOOD LUCK CORY! Littlestown is overdue for a Eastern National Champ!
TYLER ZITTLE
Match #1 - Won 1-0
Match #2 - Won 4-2
Match #3 - Lost 0-9
Match #4 - Lost 1-1 OT RIDE-OUT
You cannot possibly get any closer to qualifying for Eastern Nationals without qualifying then Tyler did! His OT Ride-out loss was the biggest heartbreaker LYW suffered all season. I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I am for Tyler. I also cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of how hard Tyler wrestled. He got as close to qualifying for the big show as a wrestler can get, all in his first try ever. I am here to tell you Tyler is on the verge of some huge accomplishments in wrestling! He may have just missed this year, but you can bet that he will grow from the whole experience, and stand on the Eastern National podium in the years to come. Tyler has been one of the best wrestlers I've ever coached, and I personally can't wait to see just how good this remarkable wrestler gets.

Match #4 - Won 9-1
Match #5 - Lost 0-3
Match #6 - Won by Injury Default
Once you become State Champ, as Cory did last year, nothing but the top of the podium seams successful. I know first hand how dissappointed Cory is in his 7th place finish, but I'm here as his coach & father to remind him of all of what was good about it.
* Cory was the only 11 year old on the podium (11 & 12 year old division)
* Cory placed 7th in the 125 pound weight class although he only weighed 118
* Cory's 3 losses this year were to the 1st, 2nd, & 5th place winners in the state. All three were close 3rd period losses.
* AND MOST IMPORTANT Cory had some areas that need improvement exposed.
I know in my heart Cory will do what it takes to improve in those areas. I know he's heard this before, but hungry wrestlers learn more from their losses than their wins. Cory's goal of winning both Eastern Nationals & States in the same year wasn't met this year, but an important step towards that goal will be achieved. I know how you must feel, Champ, but CONGRATULATIONS on your 7th Place! May you take out any fustrations you might have on your Eastern National opponents!
CHARLES WALLS
Match #1 - Won 5-4 2OT
Match #2 - Lost 2-4
Match #3 - Lost by Pin
Where you sit in the bracket is important at any of the BIG tournaments, especially at the biggest, PJW STATES. Charles could not have sat at a worse position, and almost fought his way through it anyway, but unfortunately lost in the quarterfinals by 2 points to the eventual champ. To make matters worse, Charles drew the eventual third place winner in his first consolation bout. I know how disappointed Charles must have been watching kids he knows he could beat make it on the podium, but there is good news in all of it. Sometimes it takes something as painful as the outcome of this tournament to drive a hungry wrestler, which Charles is, to the next level. He got a first hand look at how close he is to the best in the state. May the dissappointment of this tournament drive Charles over the top of what it takes to become the best in the years to come. That will ultimately be up to Charles. Just remember, these are the years meant to learn these lessons. Too many wrestlers out there avoid these big tournaments and the possible losses that go along with them, only to go through this lesson at a much more important time - High School. Chin up, Charles! I know you well enough to be real sure your day is coming. If you continue to improve as much as you did from last year to this one, that day is not very far off!!!

On the surface LYW didn't make out as well as we had hoped at states. If we would have had Cory lose two pounds, and get a better bracket placing for Charles, we could have easily have had two finalist, but that's not the way it worked out. Just knowing how both boys will be driven to improve because of the outcome of the tournament make me wonder if Littlestown Wrestling isn't better off because of how things went. If it means more improvement, I'd take these results anyday at this level of wrestling!

Philip closed out another highly successful season with 27 wins. Philip has a goal to be the best he can when it really counts, in high school. The losses he suffered this year will actually help him reach that goal some day.

Ryan closed out a tremendous season with 28 wins. He won two tournament championships, and was runner-up twice. He is also one of the fastest improving wrestlers I've ever coached.

CHARLES WALLS
Match #1 - Won 2-0
Charles earned his first ever trip to PJW States in his first ever try with a hard fought 2-0 victory. Charles got a takedown in the first period, and it proved to be enough to win the championship, and qualify for Johnstown.
CORY BEAVER
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Lost 3-7
Match #3 - Won 4-0
Cory was hit with his first loss this year by last year's Eastern National Champ, and the 2000 PJW State Champ.
PHILIP MACY
Match #1 - Lost 4-15
Match #2 - Lost 4-9
Philip was no doubt in the toughest weight at Area 9. Could he have qualified for states? In my oppinion, yes, but what he left with was much more valuable than states at this level. A few areas he needs to improve was exposed. The rest is up to him to work hard and improve in these areas. There is plenty of time.
RYAN VAUGHN
Match #1 - Won by Forfeit
Match #2 - Lost by Pin
Match #3 - Lost by Pin
Ryan showed enormous courage wrestling as a 8 year old against kids 10 & under in this tournament. He was afraid of no one, and wrestled very hard in both his matches. This is the kind of tournament that may not be the funnest for a kid so much younger, but the experience Ryan gained will be sure to help him in PJW tournaments in the years to come.

Match #3 - Won 6-0
Charles has over 40 wins this season!!!!
RYAN VAUGHN
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Won by Pin
Match #3 - Lost 9-11 OT
Ryan looked fabulous pinning his opponents to reach the finals. There, he faced the same kid that beat him 12-4 a couple of weeks earlier. This time it was a complete different story! Ryan's opponent had to scramble for a late reversal to send it into overtime. What looked like what may be the winning takedown for Ryan, turned into one of the biggest LYW heartbreaking losses of the year.
TONY POPP
Match #1 - Lost 0-9
Tony fought hard against this multi-year experience wrestler, but came out on the losing end.
JOSHUA RUPPERT
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Lost 0-6
Josh added to his pin total on the year, then faced the same kid that beat him in the Shippensburg Tournament. Josh did a great job defensively, but had trouble scoring against this Eastern National wrestler.
TIMOTHY VALENTINE
Match #1 - Lost by Pin
I thought Timmy was in the proccess of taking down and putting his opponent on his back, but things got turned around at the last moment. This does nothing to dim the brilliant first season Tim put together! His day will come.
RON WETHERSON
Match #1 - Lost 1-2
Soooooooo close to getting the tying escape was Ron, it made you want to cry. This was one of those matches that just simply couldn't be any closer. Ron may have missed getting a trophy by less than a hair, but the effort he gave in this match was gold!
CORBIN WOOD
Match #1 - Lost 1-12
First year wrestler, Corbin, was faced wrestling one of the weights toughest right off the bat. Once again, the less experienced wrestler was on the losing end.

INDIAN VALLEY TOURNAMENT (3-2-02)

PAUL PRICE
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Won by Pin
Match #3 - Won by Pin
Talk about successful first years. Paul has had a dream season, adding to it with this tournament championship. It's quite amazing when you see a kid like Paul come into a new sport, and proceed to put together a 24-2 record.
CORBIN WOOD
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Won by Pin
I knew Corbin would be something special after watching him at the first couple of practices. He has been just that, racking up an impressive 12-5 rookie record. He now has his first of what should be many, tournament championships.
JACOB GRAMMER
Match #1 - Won 5-1
Match #2 - Lost 5-7
Match #3 - Won 17-10
Jacob was so close to bagging his first tournament championship, it's not funny. Leading 5-1 late in the third period, Jacob made a rookie mistake and got too high on his opponent. Although he ended up losing in heartbreaking, 7-5 fashion, he shook it off, and performed superbly in the consulation finals. Jacob was magnificant in his first season of wrestling, putting together an impressive 21-6 record!
TYLER SMALL
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Lost by ?score
Match #3 - Lost 10-17
Tyler rolled up his 16th win of his rookie season, and bagged a 4th place trophy to boot.
RON WETHERSON

Match #4 - Lost by Pin
Ron wrestled with heart in this tournament, and it showed by the 4th place trophy he won.
TANNER SMALL
Match #1 - Won 7-0
Match #2 - Lost 2-4
Tanner got so close to the trophy rounds, he could taste it. He has been in several close losses this season, and still managed to put together a 20-5 record.
TIM VALENTINE
Match #1 - Lost by Pin
Timmy ran into a hammer right off the bat at this tournament, which happends to all wrestlers at one time or another.
CHRIS WETHERSON
Match #1 - Lost by Pin
Chris had the same experience that Timmy did, running into a tough wrestler in his first bout.

COMPLETE HANOVER YMCA TOURNAMENT RESULTS WILL BE POSTED HERE ASAP
CORY BEAVER
Match #1 - Won 2-0
Match #2 - Won by Pin
Cory was hit with the flu this week, and the lingering effects showed in his wrestling. Although he was sluggish, he did what he had to do to win and run his record to 44-0.
TYLER ZITTLE
Match #1 - Won 7-0
Match #2 - Won by Pin
Match #3 - Won 4-1
Tyler is on the top of his game, and that spelled bad news for the others in his weight class. Most impressive was his championship bout. Tyler beat, and for the most part, shut down a wrestler with a huge reputation for winning championships
BEN KILLEEN
Match #1 - Won 7-2
Match #2 - Won by Pin
Match #3 - Won 4-0
Match #4 - Lost 0-9
Ben lost in the finals to one of the top wrestlers in the state, but in no way does it dim how well he is wrestling. He was nothing short of magnificant on his way to the finals, beating hammer after hammer in this LOADED weight bracket!
PHILIP MACY
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Won 6-0
Match #3 - Won 7-4
Match #4 - Lost 0-2
I am still waiting for the overtime period of Philip's championship bout to happen. Although it never will happen, it should have! The fact that Philip got ROBBED of a takedown doesn't take away from his outstanding performance he had at this tournament.
CHARLES WALLS
Match #1 - Lost 0-1
Match #2 - Won 9-0
Charles lost a tight match where both strong wrestlers had trouble scoring against the other.
RYAN VAUGHN
Match #1 - Won by Pin
Match #2 - Lost 2-7
Ryan wrestled extremely hard but lost a tough bout much closer than the score indicated.
MICHAEL BATTAGLINI
Match #1 - Lost 0-17
Mike had the task of facing one of the toughest wrestlers at this weight right off the bat.
JOSHUA RUPPERT
Match #1 - Lost 0-6
Josh had trouble getting on track against this particular opponent, but there will be another day. Josh is the kind of kid that I have no doubts will avange this loss sometime in the future.

DREXEL HILL TOURNAMENT (2-27-02)
The Thunderbolts had one wrestler go 2-1
