ZACHARY ADCOCK
Match#1 - Lost by Pin
Match#2 - Lost by Pin
Match#3 - Lost by Pin
As he always does, Zach wrestled hard against his three very good opponents. Don't worry, Zach. Your wins are on the way. I Know you gave your all against three of the tougher kids you'll see all year. That's a win in my book!
MICHAEL BATTAGLINI
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Lost 4-6
Match#3 - Lost 0-4
Match#4 - Lost 2-10
Mike is one of Cen-Penn's top wrestlers at his weight. So I know he may have been disappointed with part of his day, but he has NO reason to be. He was an eyelash away from being 3-1. He wrestled two of the hammers he was matched up against to a virtual tie, but wound up on the losing end. No problem Mike, they are the kind of matches that will help turn you into a Champion. Mike did have one of the day's most exciting victories with his come from behind pin!
CORY BEAVER
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Cory rolled up 9 takedowns in his two pins. Included in the nine was his first ever Lateral Drop. Nice job, Cory.
GARRETT BILL
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Two matches, total time spent on mat was 33 seconds. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! It didn't surprise me a bit that Garrett pinned his opponents in 15 & 18 seconds. He is one OUTSTANDING athlete, and I sure am glad he decided to wrestle this year. He has the potential to be as good at wrestling as he is at football. Let me tell you folks, that's a TON of potential. You should see this kid play football!!!
AARON BORTNER
Match#1 - Lost by Pin
Match#2 - Won 9-2
Aaron has the perfect wrestling attitude. After he lost his first match, he was still upbeat & happy because he knew he gave his all. I told him to do the same thing in his second match, and he may like the results better. Well, that's what he did. And after another great effort, Aaron had a 9-2 decision, and his first ever wrestling win! Great job, Aaron! Stay the way you are, and you'll have a bunch of fun this season.
ASHLEY BRADY (***TIGER OF THE WEEK***)
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Match#2 - Won by Pin
LYW's only girl wrestler caught the whole gym by surprise. She came out and took it to those boys, and decked both of them quickly. Everyone was asking, did you see how good that girl was? Well, here is at least one person who wasn't surprised a bit! I get to see how hard she works, and how well she listens in practice. I get to see how aggressive she wrestles in practice. Knowing what I did about Ashley, I knew her opponents had a tiger on their hands. Believe me, it was an easy choice picking Ashley as one of our TIGERS OF THE WEEK. AWESOME JOB, ASHLEY! Keep it up, girl!
JIMMY BRADY
Match#1 - Won 21-5
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Match#3 - Lost 2-7
WOW! What a way to start a wrestling career. Jimmy busted out of the blocks with a 5 takedown, 21-5 win. He followed that with a 21 second pin. Way to go, Jimmy! I am extremely happy to have Jimmy on our team. He is a super kid, with lots of energy. He also seems very anxious to learn. LYW was very proud of Jimmy!
ALLEN CHRISMER
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Match#3 - Lost by Pin
Allen picked up right where he left off last year. He started the season off with two impressive pins. It will not surprise me to see Allen win more than the 17 wins he had last year. Keep it up, Allen! Set your goals high!
EDWARD CHRISTIAN III
Match#1 - Lost 0-4
Match#2 - Lost 7-10
Edward was involved in two very close, hard fought matches. I know he was disappointed to find himself on the losing end of these two barnburners. However, I watched both of these bouts, and I can tell you Edward gave an outstanding effort in both of them. Don't be surprised to see a different result if Edward gets another shot at either of these two wrestlers.
RYAN COLLINS
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Lost by Pin
Ryan was also involved in two very close bouts. In the one, Ryan had the boy on his back, closing in on the pin. But he worked out, and eventually got the win over Ryan. Chin up, Ryan. Let that one bout fuel your determination to get that pin next time your in that situation.
JACOB GRAMMER
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Here is another one of those SUPERSTAR ATHLETES that decided to wrestle this year. Jacob's success didn't surprise me at all. The fact that he goes out there and gets two quick pins in his first ever wrestling matches gives you an insight of just how much potential he has. With how aggressive he is, and how hungry he is to improve, NOTHING Jacob accomplishes this year will surprise me. WELCOME TO WRESTLING, JACOB!
TAYLOR GROUP
Match#1 - Lost by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Although Taylor didn't get the outcome he hoped for in his first bout, I loved the way he came back even more determined in his second. He took it right to his opponent, and got the pin! Keep it going, Taylor!
ROSS HOLLAND
Match#1 - Won 5-4
Match#2 - Lost 0-9
What an exciting, come from behind win Ross pulled off in his first bout! It definitely was one of the most exciting wins of the day. Ross showed in that match why he has been so successful in his wrestling career. It also showed why Ross is one of this teams leaders.
BEN KILLEEN
Match#1 - Won 5-4
Match#2 - Lost 0-2
Won 17-0
Ben took on three hammers and wrestled great in all three. I know he was disappointed losing that 0-2 barnburner, but how he looked in his other two bouts was quite impressive. especially his 17-0 thrashing, in a match I thought could have gone either way. WHOA!!!!! Where'd that come from, Ben? That was supposed to be a close match.
JACOB KING
Match#1 - Won 11-8
Match#2 - Lost 10-12 in overtime
Match#3 - Won by forfeit
What a fantastic job, Jacob did in his first ever wrestling matches. He didn't look like a rookie at all out there. Either he's been paying close attention at practice, getting extra help from his parents, or both. Because he looked sharp in both of his bouts. It was a real heartbreaker to see him lose that overtime match, but I bet he wins the next one.
JOSH LOMBARD
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Lost 2-7
Josh rolled in his 2002 kick-off match, getting the pin after building a 7-0 lead. Although he lost a close one in match#2, he has the opportunity to learn things from it. That's what I know Josh will do. That's why he sits with such an impressive career record.
PHILIP MACY
Match#1 - Won 8-4
Match#2 - Won 9-3
Philip beat two of the strongest wrestlers in the gym, convincingly. Is this anything different from the norm? NO! I only wish McSherrystown would have been willing to wrestle a few of there guys against Philip. Keep rollin, Champ! Keep working to reach your potential. It's a long way up there, but I know you have what it takes to reach it!
CODY NULL (***TIGER OF THE WEEK***)
Match#1 - Won 10-4
Match#2 - Won 14-0
Match#3 - Won 10-2
Match#4 - Won by Pin
What a day this rookie had!!! Forced to wrestle in four bouts because of an injury to one of our wrestlers, Cody simply went out there and dominated in all four. I can tell Cody got some extra tutoring from his exwrestling Dad. He didn't look like a rookie at all. He rolled in all four, ending the day with an impressive quick pin. It was a nobrainer, making Cody one of our TIGERS OF THE WEEK!!!
MIKE O'HALLORAN
Match#1 - Lost 0-9
Match#2 - Lost by Pin
Mike has nothing to be down about here. I watched both of his matches, and was impressed with how hard he wrestled. Sure, everybody wants to win, but how Mike wrestled is what it's all about. Wins will come with experience, Mike. As long as you continue to wrestle as hard as you did.
BRIK ORNDORFF (***TIGER OF THE WEEK***)
Match#1 Won 6-0
Match#2 - Lost by Pin
It's always so cool watching a kid get his first ever wrestling win. And watching Brik get his was extra special. He wrestled so aggressively, I was impressed to the point of making him one of our TIGERS OF THE WEEK! AWESOME JOB, BRIK!!! I was going to tell Brik, you don't have to smile while your wrestling. But then I remembered, that's what it's all about. Having fun! Keep smiling, Brik!
CAMDEN ORNDORFF
Match#1 - Won 6-1
Match#2 - Lost 7-14
Camden is an exciting wrestler to watch. And he was in some exciting matches here. Yea, he may have came up on the losing end on one of them, but just watch and see if he's not the one getting his hand raised most of the time this year. I can say that because I see how aggressive Camden is. Mix that with a little experience, and you got a formula for victories. He already sits with a 4-1 overall record in his first year of wrestling!
TONY POPP
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won 11-2
The way Tony started off his wrestling career is nothing short of magnificent. Totally dominating both of his opponents, and doing it with a smile on his face. What a job, Tony! I can tell your Dad showed you a thing or two!
NATANIEL POST
Match#1 - Lost by Pin
Match#2 - Lost 0-11
Nathaniel wrestled hard in both of his matches. I was particularly impressed with how he fought from getting pinned in his second match. That's exactly what I tried to impress on all the wrestlers. Great job, Nathaniel. Better results are right around the corner.
PAUL PRICE
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won 11-2
Here is a first year wrestler who's going to make some major waves this year! I thought we may have someone special after watching him in the practices. And after watching the way he manhandled his competition in this match, I think it's safe to say Paul is in for one very successful season! KEEP IT UP, PAUL!!!
KYLE ROY
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Lost 0-8
Kyle started the season off with a 58 second pin! Awesome! He may have lost in his second bout, but he gave his all. That's all I ask. Kyle is improving, and he already has two winning seasons under his belt. Believe me, he will rack up a ton of wins again this year!
JOSHUA RUPPERT
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Lost 4-6
Match#3 - Won by Pin
Wrestling against some very tough wrestlers, Josh showed why he was a Cen-Penn Runner-up last year. He wrestled well enough to have gone 3-0 on the day, but lost a heartbreaker in one of them. I may have helped in that loss. I made what I now think was the wrong decision by putting Josh in the down position to start the third period of a tied bout. If I would have had my thinking cap on at the time, I would have put Josh on his feet, where he is extremely tough! He already had one takedown against the kid. Sorry, Josh. You can blame that one on me. Anyway, awesome job!
TANNER SMALL
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Match#3 - Won by Pin
6-0 in his first year of wrestling. Not many wrestlers do that right out of the gates, but that's what Tanner did. He is like a pinning machine! What a job! Keep working Tanner, I think you're in for one heck of a season.
TYLER SMALL (***TIGER OF THE WEEK***)
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
I hoped one of our early wrestlers would go out there like a mad tiger, and set the tone for the whole team by taking it to their opponent in a very aggressive form. Well, Tyler was that wrestler! I was forced to look away from the match I was coaching, to note who that aggressive wrestler was. I immediately marked down Tyler as one of our TIGERS OF THE WEEK. As it turned out, he was equally aggressive in his second bout. way to go, Tyler! Keep it up.
ERIC SMITH
Match#1 - Lost by Pin
Match#2 - Lost by Pin
Eric wrestled hard in both of his matches. He may have lost them, but I have a feeling he will grow as a wrestler because of them. Sure, they were very good wrestlers Eric lost to. But they are the kind of wrestlers Eric will be defeating in the future. His hunger to improve makes me confident making that statement.
BOBBY TAVENNER (***TIGER OF THE WEEK***)
Match#1 - Won 4-0
Match#2 - Lost 5-6
Bobby was in two of the most exciting matches of the day. The way he fought for his season opening victory was impressive. Equally impressive was the way he battled back in his second bout to almost take the win, barely losing 5-6. It's that never give up attitude that earned Bobby one of our TIGERS OF THE WEEK award!
TREVOR TOPPER
Match#1 - Won 8-5
Match#2 - Won by Pin
I was impressed with all our first year wrestlers. And I was particularly impressed with Trevor's effort. Winning his first bout ever in that exciting 8-5 fashion, is something I'm sure will never be forgotten. Then he pulled off something else that will never be forgotten - His first pin! Keep it up, Trevor!
TIMOTHY VALENTINE
Match#1 - Lost 5-10
Match#2 - Lost by Pin
Match#3 - Won 11-9
Timmy is developing a habit of being in very close matches, and he continued that at this meet. His first 5-10 loss was much closer then the score indicated. (it could have gone either way) But his thrilling 11-9 win was one I cheered for from the other end of the gym. I love when we get wins like that! AWESOME JOB, TIMMY!
RYAN VAUGHN (***TIGER OF THE WEEK***)
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Match#3 - Won by Pin
The last two weeks have been incredible for Ryan. I don't think I can express into words how impressed I am with Ryan's wrestling. He is wrestling like a 5 year veteran in only his second year. Even other coaches were commenting on Ryan's wrestling. The best way I could think to recognize Ryan was to make him one of our TIGERS OF THE WEEK. Believe me, after watching Ryan, this was an easy choice.
ZACHARY VICK
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
A 20 second pin! Another 58 second pin! You sure this is your first year of wrestling, Zach? WOW! I was impressed! That goes to show what happens when you take it to the other wrestler. Keep it up, Zachary. Impress me again next week.
BLAKE WAGAMAN
Match#1 - Won 8-2
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Blake got off to a great start to the season. His impressive 8-2 victory over a heavier kid was awesome. He finished the day with an 18 second pin. Let me repeat myself - 18 seconds!
COLBY WAGAMAN
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Colby rolled to his 8th victory this season with ease. He has turned himself into a top caliber wrestler through hard work. Congratulations Colby! Don't be satisfied yet, there are higher goals to reach. You are capable of reaching those goals.
CHARLES WALLS
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Charles conducted a takedown clinic in his first bout. He wracked up 5 takedowns before pinning his opponent. He finished with a 28 second pin to run his season win total to 11.
KEITH WEAVER
Match#1 - Lost by Pin
Match#2 - Won 7-5
Keith had one of the most exciting wins of the day. His 7-5 come from behind victory had all of LYW cheering. What an impressive match. What an impressive effort. Great job Keith!
CHRIS WETHERSON
Match#1 - Lost 2-9
Match#2 - Lost 1-8
Chris deserves to get praise for both of his matches. Although he lost both, he fought extremely hard and kept both matches from entering major decisions (for team points.) Believe me his wins will come, wrestling that hard.
RON WETHERSON (***TIGER OF THE WEEK***)
Match#1 - Won 7-4
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Match#3 - Won 4-3
Ron finished strong last year and I can see he his picking up right where he left off. He beat some tough opponents in some very close matches which should be a real confidence booster to Ron. I was so impressed with his wrestling I awarded Ron with one of our TIGERS OF THE WEEK!
CORBIN WOOD
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Loaded with what may be the best shot I've ever seen from a first year wrestler, Corbin tore up his competition. After watching his two 32 second pins I thought to myself where did this kid come from. I wish I had more tigers of the week awards to hand out because Corbin certainly deserved one. I still find it hard to believe that he is a first year wrestler.
SETH WREN
Match#1 - Lost by Pin
Match#2 - Lost by Pin
Better days are in store for Seth with hard work. Seth has the skills but just needs a dose of confidence. That will come with experience. Keep your chin up Seth.
TYLER ZITTLE
Match#1 - Won by Pin
Match#2 - Won by Pin
Match#3 - Won by Pin
It makes a coach so proud to watch a boy like Tyler Zittle who in two years has turned himself into one of the best wrestlers in his weight. His aggressive wrestling is something I hope all of our first year wrestlers take notice of. He did not become this good by being timid. He aggressively wrestled his way into the confidence he now possesses. This should prove to be quite a banner season for our 2 time champ Tyler Zittle!
